I’m a 19 year old, overweight woman, I’m vegan and do daily exercise and do live by a healthy lifestyle despite my weight. I’m looking to change from the mini pill (progesterone) to a coil. Since taking the pill I have gained around 2-3 kg despite doing more exercise, and I’m aware that the IUS uses similar hormones. I’ve heard so many horror stories about the copper coil though, (“it’s painful, it causes cramps and thrush, it doesn’t work”) while all the stories I’ve heard of the hormone based coil are positive. I really don’t want to gain any more weight than I already have, and I don’t like having extra hormones in my body. My question is which coil is better? I want to avoid gaining weight at all costs but worry that the copper coil is as bad as people say it is. So ladies, please tell me your stories, I need advice 😔
