There are better running watches than the Garmin Forerunner 35 available in the Black Friday sales this year, but there’s nothing else out there that represents such good value now it’s been reduced to £82.99 on Amazon.
The 35 has recently been superseded by the Forerunner 45 in Garmin’s line-up, with the latter also reduced this Black Friday to £131.99. However, the older model still offers all the essentials a runner needs, with accurate GPS and heart rate tracking, an intervals mode, and all the key stats required.
On top of its sport tracking features – and it does track other sports besides running, including cycling and cardio workouts – the watch will log elements of your everyday activity like steps and active minutes, and will prompt you to move if you’ve been sedentary for too long. It also has an impressive battery life at nine hours of GPS tracking, or up to nine days in watch mode.
All in all, the Forerunner 35 is a particularly great watch for beginners, and if you’ve been tasked by someone with getting them a running watch for Christmas, perhaps ahead of starting training for the London Marathon, swooping now for the 35 is a smart move. While the 35 is usually available for £20-30 less than its £129.99 RRP, this is the cheapest we (and price tracker CamelCamelCamel) have ever seen it, and you can get the black, blue or green colourway in the sale. The white band version is still £99.99 for some reason, but that’s the worst colour anyway.
If you prefer a more advanced watch, then we recommend checking out Garmin’s new Forerunner 45 and Forerunner 245 Music watches, both of which have been reduced in the Black Friday sales.
